What is a captive balloon flight ?

A captive flight is a flight during which the balloon is connected to the ground by ropes and rises to an altitude of about 30 meters. Like a lift, the balloon rises with passengers on board, stays at the top for a few minutes and then descends to take up new passengers. The captive flight allows a large number of people to follow one another in the air and to experience the sensation of flying in a hot air balloon.

The conditions to realize a captive flight

To realize a captive flight during your events, it is necessary to respect some conditions, namely

You must have an open area of at least 50 meters by 50 meters
To have the authorization of the owner of the ground
Generate an insurance certificate for the event (by requesting one from your insurer)
Provide us with a map of the area and the location of the site
And finally, concerning the regulations, if you do not call upon the public by way of press of your event, you are not subjected to any declaration.

The course of the service

The day before your event, we confirm the possibility of carrying out the service according to the announced weather conditions. We then arrive, before the event, to install the ropes and position the balloon. We prepare the balloon and inflate it. The guests can then enjoy the balloon ascensions, in turn, by group accompanied by one of our crew members.

The duration of the service is of course defined in advance with you. Once done, it’s time to put away the equipment or to untie the ropes and go for a free balloon flight according to your convenience.

When to make a captive balloon flight ?

Of course, like any balloon flight, captive flight is subject to the weather. Even a captive balloon can only be flown in winds of less than 18 km/h and without precipitation or turbulence.
